AAA Northern California discontinues House Manager

AAA Northern California has made “the difficult decision to discontinue [its] House Manager service and are no longer accepting new Memberships.”

Launched in 2018, AAA House Manager was a membership-based home maintenance service.

A user would register and make the first appointment. Then, a member of the AAA staff would go to the house and handle any maintenance problems. After that, AAA would make a repeat visit twice a year to handle basic tasks. Also, if a problem occured in between visits, the user was able to add it to the list via the company’s mobile app, and AAA handled it for an hourly rate.

The company offered 2 plans to choose from – Classic for $339/year and Premier for $669/year. Key services excluded were landscaping, tree removal, and roof replacement.

At its heyday, AAA House Manager was available in Alameda, Contra Costa, San Francisco, and Solano Counties, as well as portions of Sacramento County and Placer County, and in the cities of Milpitas and Napa.

Bottom Line: Many insurers – including Travelers and Progressive – flock to home maintenance services when seeking to go beyond insurance.
