Apple brings crash detection to iPhone and Apple Watch

Last year, it was reported that Apple is working on a new iPhone and Apple Watch feature that detects if you’re in a car crash and dials 911 automatically.

Today, the company introduced this new feature, which is available on both the new iPhone and watch models.

Apple provides some information on how the iPhone “feels, hears, and measures” a crash. These include sensing sudden speed shifts, detecting cabin pressure changes, monitoring drastic changes in a car’s orientation, and identifying extreme sound levels of a collision. Apple says that it performed laboratory crash tests and used real-world crash data to design this new feature.
