AXA partners with Kayrros

AXA announced the launch of a new wildfire risk prevention service based on a model developed in partnership with Kayrros , a global environmental intelligence firm.

The service leverages satellite imagery and combines more than 20 risk factors to provide sophisticated risk maps and analyses updated on a regular basis.

The platform is designed to determine the exposure and risk profile of a site – or sites – in France, and to implement appropriate risk management and risk transfer measures. It is available through AXA’s Digital Commercial Platform.

The service was developed for AXA France’s and AXA XL’s commercial clients. AXA France’s clients will benefit from the service through their General Agents.

“Last year, wildfires in France burned six times the number of hectares they burned during the previous 15-year average, according to the European Forest Fire Information System (EFFIS). Acting effectively and making sound risk management decisions against this backdrop rests on having precise, verifiable and independent information, and that’s what we strive to bring our clients through this partnership.” – Maxime Ambourg, Head of AXA XL Risk Consulting – APAC & Europe.

“The new service is based on a radically new approach for our industry; instead of looking backward and making assessment based on historical data, we are now able to support our clients by using predictive models.” – Jean-Luc Montané, Head of Commercial P&C and Specialty insurance at AXA France.

“We’re pleased to be able to provide our wildfire risk model to AXA. After a concerning record year for wildfires, it’s vital that we leverage satellite and Artificial Intelligence technology to address this growing global threat. We hope that our collaboration will inspire partnerships across industries, financial institutions, and governments#, to better use the latest geospatial technologies to better manage climate risks and loss prevention.” – Antoine Rostand, President of Kayrros.
