Our recent Metromile story led us to take a close look at one of the biggest expenses of any business - payroll. Specifically, we wanted to find out the number of individual payrolls it took a company to reach certain milestones as a measure of its efficiency.

So, we mapped out the workforce of three noteworthy full-stack auto insurance carriers: Root, Metromile and Clearcover.
