Die Mobiliar expands home ecosystem with latest acquisition

Swiss insurer Die Mobiliar announced its plans to acquire Swiss real estate portal Flatfox .

Founded in 2012, Flatfox – a team of 15 – offers a free marketplace for property searches, as well as tools around the rental process. “With the acquisition, Mobiliar is expanding its range of products and services in the area of living and thus further expanding its market position.” The four founders – Bernhard Mäder, Mattia Regi, Silvan Spross and Fabian Stutz – and the entire team will remain with Flatfox after the takeover.

Note that the insurer is a part-owner in online marketplace Scout24 Switzerland; alongside media company Ringier, and it’s a  part-owner in aroov, a tenant portal, alongside Garaio REM.

Finally, to further develop its home ecosystem, Mobiliar is planning to launch Liiva in the summer. The joint venture with Raiffeisen will assist throughout the process of owning a property but it isn’t clear how.

The news follows last week’s announcement that Swiss insurer Baloise invested in P2P mobility startup GoMore as it looks to develop its mobility ecosystem, alongside its home ecosystem.
