Think: the brand-slash-mascot-slash-online platform of Commercial Insurance Group (CIG), a Colorado Springs-based wholesale MGA that specializes in hard-to-place risks – be it in construction, property, hospitality, or high value homes; to name a few.

 

 

The agency, established in 2009 and led by CEO Martin Burlingame, has secured partnerships in place with Chubb & International Insurance Company of Hannover and is a coverholder at Lloyd’sHere’s How It Works: agents across the company’s 50 state footprint, submit an application via the Bigfoot platform to have a CIG underwriter reach back in 2-3 hours for most personal lines quotes and typically up to 24 hours for those extremely hairy risks (hence the name). Agents can access their submissions & policies via the Bigfoot portal and can correspond with underwriters via the portal. Binds are requested online and documents are uploaded by both the agent (bind requirements) and the underwriter (binder/policy). “The goal is to make the personal lines experience for agents as painless as possible . We now have a Bigfoot(print) that covers anything from short term rentals to California Brushfire and we are now automating our quake and flood options to help streamline the quoting process. It’s all about the user experience!” says Martin Burlingame.
