Kindred Motorworks is backed by Hagerty

Kindred Motorworks, a California-based startup modernizing vintage cars, has officially launched during the Monterey Car Week.

Founded in 2019, Kindred has raised over $20 million in funding from CPMG, Goldcrest, Fifth Down Capital, and Robert Downey Jr.’s Footprint Coalition, with additional support from Hagerty and various angel investors.

The startup brings together technicians, software developers, mechanical engineers, designers, painters, and vintage car lovers to modernize vintage vehicles and make them safer, more efficient, and more powerful without “losing the spirit” of these vehicles. Kindred is currently giving folks the option to pre-order three models: Kindred Bronco (starting at $169k), Kindred VW Bus (starting at $199k), and Kindred Camaro (starting at $199k). The three cars can be ordered with combustion engines, or as EVs.

Each Kindred vehicle comes with a one year warranty and the company also helps with getting “competitive insurance coverage.”
