Lemonade’s car insurance is live in Tennessee

A little over four months after launching in Illinois, Lemonade’s car insurance product is now live in two states with the recent addition of Tennessee.

Residents of the state can now access Lemonade’s full roster of products including home, pet, and life insurance.

The insurer often talks about its cross-selling capabilities but judging by state-specific insurance figures, Tennessee is not a top state in terms of direct premiums written. Based on 2021 data, Lemonade generated ~$4.7 million in premiums in the state, which puts it in the 17th spot. Illinois for comparison ranked 6th with around $15.7 million in premiums.

Lemonade also submitted car insurance filings in Georgia and Ohio last year. The program in Georgia was approved while the one in Ohio is still pending.
