As a part of its continuous effort to create a robust mobility ecosystem, Ola, India’s leading ridesharing company has set up a first-of-its-kind, safety council. The safety council will bring together organizations and individuals from various sectors such as urban transport, climate change, women’s safety, security management, traffic management, and emergency management services. The council will also work alongside policy makers, state transport authorities, traffic police departments, and other relevant parties to create solutions that enhance ride and road safety.

The safety council will focus on five areas, which have been adopted from the United Nations Decade of Action for Road Safety. The focus areas include: (1) strengthened road safety management capacities, (2) improved safety of road infrastructure and broader transport networks, (3) enhanced safety of vehicles, (4) improved behavior of road users, and (5) improved post-crash care.
