Tripadvisor Trip Protection is powered by Allianz

As of earlier this year, Allianz has been testing a travel insurance product in partnership with travel platform Tripadvisor .

“We’ve partnered with Allianz Global Assistance, one of the largest travel insurance and assistance providers in the U.S., to help you plan for the unexpected.”

The annual protection is offered via two plans: Prime and Basic. In addition to the perks and coverage offered under the Basic plan e.g. emergency medical coverage and baggage loss or delay, the Prime plan also offers coverage in the event of trip cancellation or interruption.

“Pricing varies by state of residence due to benefit availability and coverage limits. As of April 9, 2020, for WA residents: Prime is $275, Basic $60. For NY residents: Prime is $249, Basic $125. For KS residents: Prime is $225, Basic is $60. For TX residents: Prime is $225, Basic is $60. This pricing is subject to change without notice.”

In April, CNBC reported that TripAdvisor is reducing its workforce by 900 employees due to COVID-19 after already having laid off 200 employees earlier in the year.

According to LinkedIn, the company started the year with 5,958 employees and is now down to 4,962.
