Uber Partners With Chubb

Uber is partnering with Chubb to cover its South African drivers in case of death or injury as of August 1.

The new coverage protects both Uber and UberEats drivers from the moment they accept a new request to when they complete it. Free of charge for drivers, the coverage will pay out a lump sum to the family in case of death, or to the driver if he or she is permanently disabled. It also covers ambulance and hospital costs and will provide daily payment for thirty days while the driver recovers from an attack while working.

On the topic of ride hailing, according to Reuters, Grab, Uber’s biggest competitor and Chubb’s partner, is set to announce a new $1 billion round of funding.

Bottom Line: AXA comes to mind.
