Where is the love?

After two different judges said ‘not happening’ to the mergers of Aetna & Humana, and Cigna & Anthem, the companies are left to figure out their next steps. And some steps are easier than others. Easy. Aetna will pay Humana a $1-billion breakup fee. Not so easy. Cigna decided to terminate its $54-billion merger agreement with Anthem to which Anthem responded that Cigna doesn’t have a right to terminate the agreement, aka ‘this could get ugly’. Bottom Line: Cigna is suing for $1.85 billion in termination fees, along with $13 billion in damages.
