Zenefits reaches a $7M settlement with California

Zenefits has agreed to pay a $7 million fine in a settlement with California regulators, which includes a $3 million fine for licensing violations, a $4 million fine for skipping out on the pre-licensing education and a $160,000 fine in order to reimburse the department for its time spent investigating and examining the violations. Zenefits will only have to pay half of the $7 million fine, as long as the company continues to comply with licensing and regulatory mandates. Bottom Line: California is now the 11th state Zenefits has settled with, following Arizona ($15K), Delaware, Idaho, Minnesota, New Jersey ($100K), South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas ($550K), Virginia, and Washington ($100,000).
