Community Life rebrands following acquisition by HDI

Earlier this year, German insurer HDI announced it has acquired a majority stake in digital life insurance intermediary Community Life that is co-led by Claudia Lang-Keck and Stefan Keck.

Founded in 2014, the team of ~12 has developed an end-to-end digital platform for selling and managing life insurance policies and operates a direct-to-consumer as well as a B2B strategy where it offers businesses a complete white label solution that “can be used in a modular fashion by possible cooperation partners.”

Note that back in 2016, Community Life had a partnership in place with iptiQ.

During the acquisition announcement, HDI also shared that Community Life will be launching its first biometric products in Q3, 2021, and as you can see below, the life insurance offering is currently paused and the startup has a new logo.

“We are very happy to welcome the founders and the Community Life team with open arms and great appreciation. In life insurance too, platforms – supplemented by personal advice if required – will be important growth drivers in the future. With the purchase of Community Life and the establishment of the platform management division, we would like to leave a strong footprint in the digital world of life insurance in the field of biometrics. Community Life offers us a total solution from sales to operational processes. ” – Dr. Patrick Dahmen, CEO of HDI Lebensversicherung AG, during the acquisition.

Speaking of acquisitions, the virtual chat engine for auto insurance, Claimbot, was acquired in Nov 2020 by Mobile Tech RX.
